Go Rogue - Be your own storm

Sometimes we need to take steps to move forward. Even if baby steps. Sure, you can be your own storm even if it's rain drops. When we get used to our old routines and habits it can be difficult to do so.

I have had so many starts and stops in the past four years with my writing. More stops than go! The books are in my head, and even seven, yes seven completed ones in my PC. I am fortunate enough to have been working with an amazing editor. She contacted me unexpectedly last year. We had worked together years ago. She is not only a mentor, but also an inspiration. I no longer get upset when she says, "Remove this, don't derail the reader, cut that paragraph out, keep word count down." Now I sit back and listen. Guess that is part of getting older and letting go of OLD ego.

I have two books I am about to release. They are a huge undertaking! But I can't keep them coddled in my PC forever?

BEACH HEART COTTAGE, & YOU LEFT ME ONCE will be released soon... I had to do it. I had to go rogue. Be part of my storm!

BEACH HEART COTTAGE

Thirty-six-year-old Caroline Woodard’s vacation on the ribbon of sand known as Hatteras Island, North Carolina takes her heart on a journey much like a rogue wave. As a high-powered Washington D.C. publicist, getting her client, presidential candidate, Colton Jameson, in the oval office is on her mind. There is no time for distractions until she meets Dillan. The annual August vacation to the Beach Heart Cottage with her family will open her heart to love.

Crossing the threshold of the rustic ocean front cottage brings with it generations of tradition. The women only vacation is more than dipping their toes in the silky sand and watching the sunrise over the Atlantic. It is a celebration going back to earlier women. In 1939 the tradition began after a storm when great Aunt Ida found a bottle bopping in the waves. What she and her sisters discovered inside that bottle led to the current tradition. The search for the mysterious mermaid, Seraphina.

It is under the full moon as the sparks of a bonfire meet the stars, the aunts, sisters, and grandmother crown, Caroline, the newest mermaid. She is now part of the sisterhood. As they dance around the fire in celebration dressed in vintage mermaid costumes, the magic in the balmy breezes of Hatteras begins. It is then the crowned mermaid will find her heart where it truly belongs. Perhaps mermaids do exist, and they sing over the tips of the waves in search of lost sailors. If you listen, you may Seraphina.

What do you do when your heart is in the present but still lost in the past? The answer is not easy. In fact, it can be painfully confusing.

Hollywood’s aging femme fatale, academy award winning actress forty-six-year-old Kashmir Rollins is no stranger to addictions, outrageous behavior, and rehab. She is divorcing second husband internet shopping mogul Preston Burke, ten years her junior. In the middle of shooting her latest film in Miami, Kashmir rushes off to her divorce attorney for a meeting. With the pending high stakes divorce, tempers are high.

After Kashmir’s meeting, in a fiery crash, everyone’s lives will be instantly changed. This brings soon-to-retire Miami Detective Cabello to dig into the case, turning Preston’s life upside down. Why did Preston buy the red Ferrari at auction? His high-powered attorney and main emotional support, Jackson Rula, holds the answers to the mysterious questions.

Demoralized and depressed, Preston returns to his childhood home in North Conway, New Hampshire, surprising his first love, Emma Canton, who with his sister, owns a local gift shop. Preston reminds Emma the world is an oyster if she finds her heart back with him. Her boyfriend, local veterinarian Joshua Reed, finds himself in the middle of a complex web. Emma's heart is with Joshua, but her body is hard to resist Preston. Emma will discover Preston is not the man he once was and there will be consequences. Her dreams turn into nightmares filled with terror as Kashmir warns her, "You're next." Next for what?

Did Preston intrude on Emma’s heart using his charms to gain an heir? He knows of his destiny and maybe he truly loves her. Where does big hearted Joshua land in this twisted plot? That is a hard question to answer as the detective is closing in on Preston.

Some stories have a fairy tale ending. I will let you decide if that ending finds Emma.
